Last Saturday (5 November 2011) Steph and I hosted a party at our apartment. We each invited some of our friends, and ended up with the apartment full to capacity, but not overcrowded. It was a pretty good turn out. Around 11:30pm the police showed up saying they had a noise complaint. They were super cool about it and didn't even ask for any ID's. So we killed the radio and shut the window, and a few people went home. Everyone thought it was no big deal -- and we were right. But, on Monday morning, one of our neighbors left a note on our door telling us how she really felt. Or at least she tried to tell us how she really felt. In reality, her fleeting grasp of the English language and single-digit IQ made understanding the letter a difficult task. The computer-printed letter is reproduced exactly as written below:
I would just like to thank you for keeping me and my family awake all night! You proved that you and your roommate believe you are above / better then anyone else in the entire complex. You showed complete lack of respect for everyone that lives here. This is a family building, there are older people that live here there are families that have young children and single parents. If you feel that you need to be loud enough to keep everyone in the complex awake until your ready to be quiet then maybe it is time that you find a college dorm to live in because this is not it. One lady had to walk out to the parking lot at 12:30 in the morning because she felt that her daughter was not safe because all the running in and out of the building and yelling. THERE WILL NOT BE A NEXT TIME BECAUSE THE MINUTE YOU HAVE PEOPLE OVER THE POLICE WILL BE CALLED AGAIN IMMEDETILY!!!!
You better think about going to your neighbors and apologizing for the lack of respect you showed them.....
Do you really think everyone wanted to listen to your music that was so loud I could not hear my own TV over all the yelling, cussing and music. Doors slamming and bikes in the hallway, which is a fire hazard. No objects are allowed to block any portion of the hallway.
Just so you know not only were the police called but you will be reported to the management company and I suggest you read your lease because you violated the terms or your lease. So your lack of respect hopefully taught you a lesson when you move to your new place.
That kind of noise is never acceptable in this kind of setting.
Note the numerous grammar errors, the spelling mistakes, the lack of a signature or any indication of who the author may be, and the extensive exaggeration.
Although our party was over by 12:15am Sunday morning, we were a little concerned that we may have bothered some of our neighbors. Hoping to apologize to any other neighbors who may have been upset while giving a little middle finger to the note writer, we replied with the following:
Dear neighbors,
We would like to apologize to anyone who was disturbed or offended by our party this past Saturday. We didn’t mean to inconvenience you, and we hope there are no hard feelings. We hope we can have a positive relationship in the future, and if you want to chat or come over to meet us sometime, we would be happy to get to know you all better.
To whomever wrote the note, again, we’re sorry for the inconvenience. We’re also sorry that you felt like calling the police and leaving a passive-aggressive note was the best solution. We don’t aim to be rude or inconsiderate people, and we would have gladly quieted down early if you had knocked on our door, or let us know how you felt. If you have any problems in the future, please let us know directly and we’ll be happy to help you out.

In hindsight, the second paragraph may have been a little too subtle for our favorite slackwitted neighbor, but at least we put it out there.
Feel free to leave thoughts or ideas as comments.

It wasn't the crazy lady next
It wasn't the crazy lady next door coming to really complain about the sweet innocent girls next door was it?

Dude, you haven't posted in this section in forever...you can't get mad at me for missing this!
Ohhhhh Josh. I miss this.
Ohhhhh Josh. I miss this. Reading posts like this are WAY better than finishing final exams the night before they are due. Not quite as good as Rock Band... but such is life. Hope you're fairing well and, seriously, we need to skype!
