Current mood: thirsty
I kind of like this blog thing so I think I'll do it more often. I'll try to type one at least every other night witch is perfect for all of my fans who can;t get enough of me. (I'm fairly certain that I don't have any fans) Anyway Some subscriptions to my blog would be great so if you feel so inclined click on the subscribe button. If you don't feel so inclined pleas don't feel obligated. I'm stable enough mentally that I can handle it if no one subscribes.
Tonights topic: Mooning
When is it and when isn't it apropriate?Well as many of you know I recently mooned the swim bus on the way to swim practice. All of the kids on the bus thought it was funny, as I'm sure most of you would too. But the bus driver felt she had to report me to Mr. Bloget head of transportation. I was then told by Randy (The swimming coach) that I may get in trouble for it. However to date I have not recieved any punishment. This could be for one of two reasons:
1. The administration in their infinate wisdom forgot about the incident.
2. The administration (or at least a few select members of it) thought that it was all in good fun and decided to let it slide. So the matter at hand is: Is mooning funny and harmless or sexually explicit and crude? Allow me to give a few situations for you to consider. While driving down the street a teen-aged kid shows his white butt tho a few teen-aged friends while playing basketball. Most of us would say that this is acceptable citing that kids will be kids. Now example two. A 35 year old is walking through the park when he hears some young (ages 7 - 11) girls making fun of his thinning hair. In response to the ridicule the man drops his draws and show his butt to the girls. I think that most parents (and kids for that matter) would find the mooning in the second scenario to be completly tasteless.
So If an adult moons a kid it is wrong but what if a kid moons an adult? What if, for example, I moon my friends mom? What if I moon my own parents? What if one of my parents moon me?
Well I'd love to hear what you think about the issue so as usual please post any thoughts or Ideas as comments.
I realize that this blog was not very well thought out, but it is late and I am tired, so I promise that the next one will be better.
Next Topic: NHS
Yep, that wasn't very well thought out. I still think mooning is funny, but as I get older, I have fewer opportunities to do it tastefully. Especially now that I'm a teacher. I'm also increasingly sympathetic with the logic that the line has to be somewhere and the only objective place to draw it is at one of the extremes, which in this case of course has to be the conservative extreme. I really miss the sentiment that I had at the time of writing of the original post, that it's easy to tell what is in good fun versus what is gross and that people should lighten up. I hope it never gets to a point where an innocent teen-to-teen mooning isn't tolerated.
Please post your thoughts and ideas as comments.
